TREASURE MAPS & PRIMARY TEXTS
These are often written in ancient, dead languages.
(Latin, Linear B, Heiroglyphics, Runes, Hebrew, Sanskrit, Cunniform)
They are often fragmentary, by accident or design.
Sometimes they appear in books (Tomes, Grimores, Scrolls)
on paper (Parchment, Leather Hide, Clay Tablets)
The ink may be invisible, requiring a substrate or
catalyst (lemon juice) and energy (Heat)
Special lenses or glasses may be required to see it.
Sometimes clues can be found in/on sources other than Documents:
Tapestries, Architecture, Paintings, Floor Tiles, landscapes,
Coffins, Arms & Armor, Furniture, Relics, etc.
CODES & CYPHERS
Sometimes these require machines (enigma)
They may be a list of numbers referring to letters or words in a another text.
Guessing Passwords require knowledge of the person who built or uses the security system.
ARCHITECTURE & LIGHT
This is a regular movie trick:
You have to be in a certain place at a certain time and know
how & where to look to have a clue (location) revealed.
KEYS
Keys can be anything:
A Gem, staff, pipe, chemical, weight, etc...
TRAPS
Often deadly traps can be avoided, disarmed, by correctly
interpreting the symbolic clues in some arcane manuscript.
SECRET SOCIETIES
Many Secret Societies funtion to protect or find specific Artifacts.
Some Sample Secret (& not so Secret) Societies:
The Vatican
The Nazis
The Masons
The Knights Templar
THE KNIGHTS TEMPLAR
Holy order of Christian Knights.
They excavated the Temple Mount during the Crusades.
The Templars may have found the Holy Grail.
LANGUAGE OF THE BIRDS

the fall of the Tower of Babel.

GAME DESIGNERS NOTES
For Tone I want something more modern and less Victorian.
Also, monsters (Vampires, Dinosaurs, Cthulhu myths) should be secondary.
